Arriving in Australia 56 years ago as an infant-in-arms with mum Carmela, following her husband Angelo who had arrived a couple of years earlier, Vince did it tough from day one “Because we didn’t speak English at home.

“Even though my parents had ambitions for us to build a life that was better than theirs, I had such a bad time of it. I wasn’t thinking of any life plan, I just wanted to finish school”.

So, with a bit of prod along and my own desire to get out of school, my lifelong love affair with hairdressing began”  starting my apprenticeship at Frank’s Gents Hairdressers.

Four years later I was the proud recipient of a Trade Certificate in Hairdressing. And, at the tender age of 20 I established my own barbershop at 377 Marion Road, Plympton.

As still mainly a barber of the old school, I was doing short back and sides – while everyone else was doing rock star, remembers Vince. I didn’t even have a hair wash basin!

So, I went from feeling proud of what I was doing to feeling left behind. I lost my confidence - I needed to re-invent myself and my business as a full service hairdresser.

Thus the launch of Hair Machine-to me this represented a powerful brand.

Being honest to myself, I knew that I didn’t have the ability to do it all. And having a barbering background, I knew that I needed new people who could deliver the new unisex looks. So it became time for me to get off the floor and create a training structure for a crew of ambitious hairdressers who, with the right guidance, would reach standards that I myself knew may struggle to attain.
The Hair Machine business has grown very much through the opportunities given to existing key members and staff.

Vincent Rinaldo offers people a career path pointing staff in the right direction by offering the best training in salon, competition, artistic and editorial work.

Voted 1999 South Australian Employer of the Year, Vincent Rinaldo see’s the only way forward for the group being the development of a carefully constructed full franchise model.

HAIR MACHINES Mission Statement is all about offering
“State of The Art, Award Winning Hairdressing”.
